Natures One Infant Formula Declares Zero Arsenic Goal

Natures’ One, a long trusted consumer brand that makes Babys Only Organic Toddler Formula, has announced new manufacturing and processing procedures designed to achieve a zero tolerance level of arsenic in the company’s line of organic formulas.  In a designated “Purity Initiative” the company has accelerated efforts to eliminate toxic substances such as arsenic, pesticides, heavy metals, and hidden chemicals derived from the manufacturing process such as the neurotoxin Hexane.

The company believes that the science and technology exists to make baby formula’s and infant food products safe. Nature’s One has called on other manufacturer’s to also aspire to this goal.

Jay Highman, CEO of Nature’s One states ” Anymore, it is not enough to talk about what is added to a formula to make it beneficial.” Highman believes the focus should equally be about what is NOT in the baby formula and infant foods.  He further said”  Unfortunately, many of these chemicals go undetected because they are not tested routinely, or are concealed under current labeling regulations.  (Our) company’s founding goal has always been to identify and eliminate toxins that may negatively impact human development.”

Early this year, a study revealed that 15 brands of infant formulas contained Arsenic. Arsenic per the  CDC Agency For Toxic Substances & Disease Registry, is thought to cause cancer. The CDC cites “There is some evidence that long-term exposure to arsenic in children may result in lower IQ scores. There is also some evidence that exposure to arsenic in the womb and early childhood may increase mortality in young adults.”

Nature’s One has designed a USDA organic- compliant process to attempt to remove detectable arsenic in brown rice syrup. Nature One formula’s use brown rice syrup in their products as a healthier alternative to other carbohydrate resources such as table sugar and corn syrups used by other brands.
